Flexibility for On Campus, Remote and Hybrid Approaches
Everyone knows they need to be flexible and have all of their learning materials and resources with them wherever they go. That’s what we heard from Blackbaud Tech Solutions Engineer, Anne Kellerman. Anne is also an educator. She spent many years as the IT Director and Upper School Head at the Boys’ Latin School of Maryland, where she also taught a class each year.
“We’re working with many, many schools that are preparing for a hybrid of approaches. They want to be able to welcome their students back to campus. They also want to have the ability to continue on with online classes. And I’m hearing that many schools want to give the option for students to remain in an online environment while some students could elect to come back to campus,” Anne shared.
Over Zoom we definitely caught the smile when Anne related that students often take home only the textbooks they think they need before the next school day, leaving the rest in their lockers. “The COVID situation has completely changed that. And what everyone knows is they need to be flexible and have all of their learning materials and resources with them wherever they go.”
TextbookHub has the ability to integrate directly into Blackbaud’s Class Pages, which makes this easy and seamless for schools – and students. Anne also appreciates the rich features TextbookHub has for teachers “to curate content right into the textbook or even create assessments within the textbook is so perfect that that works with our solution and is available for our schools.”

Anne noted that schools have learned really quickly during closure and she really appreciates the stories of teachers doing so much to adapt – and quickly – to this new teaching environment. She continued, “I think it’s going to continue to be a learning experience, always with the understanding that there might be a long period of time that they can’t be on campus. … And having systems that can allow them to be flexible. And that’s actually one of the ways that I see TextbookHub playing into being flexible and being accessible.”
Thank you, Anne, for sharing your expertise in tech and education with us!
