TextbookHub is pleased to announce that Dr. Gemma Morales is joining our growing team in Miami.
Gemma is a native of Miami and attended K-12 parochial schools before attending University of Southern California with a major in Linguistics and a minor in Spanish. As a research assistant, she worked with Head Start students and used web-based early literacy assessments to determine whether the children were more prepared to learn how to read in their first language (Spanish) or in their second language (English).
Gemma then completed a PhD in Educational Linguistics and Applied Linguistics at The University of Melbourne in Australia. “My thesis involved the creation of iPad apps to help assess and train early literacy skills for Indigenous Australian children in their home language (Yolngu Matha),” she shared.
Dr. Morales has additional experience in early literacy and language skills. She says, “I am really excited to be part of a team that is helping teachers and students acquire the resources they need to promote scholastic success. I love meeting and connecting with others on a daily basis who share my passion to help students succeed!”
Outside of work Gemma enjoys Pilates and dance. She’s happy to be back in Miami enjoying the sun, spending time with family and friends and trying new vegan restaurants.
